Mr Andrew YellandMB BS, FRCSEd, MS, FRCSMr Yelland qualified MB BS from St George’s Hospital, London in 1986 and subsequently trained on the South-West Thames rotation. During this time, Mr Yelland gained experience on prestigious breast reconstructive units including St George’s Hospital (London), The Royal Surrey County Hospital (Guildford) and Royal Marsden Hospitals (London & Sutton).
Mr Yelland became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1991 and also became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2001. Between 1990 and 1991 he undertook a period of scientific research at St George’s Hospital Medical School and Charing Cross Hospital Medical School, investigating the role of growth factors in breast cancer. The work lead to the award of a Master of Surgery degree from the University of London. Mr Yelland spent another period of specialist study at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, USA in 1996. The Plastic and Reconstructive Unit in Atlanta pioneered breast reconstructive techniques in the 1980s and more recently endoscopic plastic surgical techniques. Returning to England in 1996 Mr Yelland completed his studies and was appointed as a Consultant in Breast Onco-Plastic Surgery at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton. Present AppointmentMr Yelland is a Lead Consultant in Breast Surgery, Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust, with a special interest in cosmetic and related onco-plastic preocedures. Nuffield Hospital, Haywards Heath has 42 private bedrooms with en suite facilities, 2 operating theatres, 8 consulting rooms and 24 hour resident medical cover. BUPA Gatwick Park Hospital is located on the Surrey/Sussex border close to Crawley, with good access to London. It has 64 private en suite bedrooms, 3 operating theatres and 9 consulting rooms and also has 24 hour resident medical cover. All three hospitals are of course fully registered with the Healthcare commission.
